Fibromyalgia

Fibromyalgia is a disorder characterized by widespread musculoskeletal pain accompanied by fatigue, sleep, memory and mood issues.

Those with fibromyalgia are believed to have increased pain because their brain interprets pain signals in a different way than other people. Women are more likely to get fibromyalgia than men. Fibro sometimes starts after some sort of physical trauma, surgery, infection or psychological stress. Other times symptoms just gradually onset over time.

Fibro is also usually accompanied by TMJ, IBS, anxiety, depression, and tension headaches.

There are a wide variety of treatments that can help ease the pain of fibromyalgia though no one treatment has worked for every patient and every patient usually needs a combination of therapies not just one treatment. These treatments range from medication, acupuncture, chiropractic, exercise, resistance training, aqua therapy, diet, anti-inflammatory eating, laser therapy, and more.
